Reinstall pfRest after a pfSense update

pfSense updates remove the pfRest API package (pfSense-pkg-RESTAPI). The API stops working until you reinstall it. Do this after every pfSense update.

Reinstall pfRest

1. Open the pfSense web UI.
2. Go to System > Package Manager > Available Packages.
3. Search for RESTAPI.
4. Click Install next to pfSense-pkg-RESTAPI.
5. Confirm the installation.

The API is available again at https://<pfsense-host>/api/v1/ after the package finishes installing.

Verify the API works

Run a read-only request from a host that can reach the pfSense host:

curl -k https://<pfsense-host>/api/v1/system/status

A 200 response with system status data confirms the API is active. A 404 or connection error means the package did not install correctly.
